LE Series telescopes are custom built telescopes. Weights and dimensions will vary with each order.
You can estimate the following dimensions for LE Series telescopes sizes 25" through 32".
The rocker box square dimension will usually be about 8 1/2" larger then the primary optic.
For example if the mirror is 28" then the rocker will be about 36 1/2" square. To one side of this you need to add
2 1/2" for the Servocat altitude motor. The mirror box square dimension runs about 6" larger then the
primary mirror. Ground to altitude bearing tip height or the stacked dimension, mirror box height and truss tube length will vary
with focal length.
The upper tube assembly will be approximately 5" larger then the primary optic on the OD and 2" larger on the ID.
UTA height will be 18" for sizes 25" through 32".
Zenith height will normally be no longer then the focal length of the primary mirror. For scopes F3.6 and faster
the zenith height is about 3" shorter then the focal length with our normal build criteria.
Secondary sizes are selected based on our design criteria to give 100% illumination.
A complete list of all dimensions will be given at the time of order.
If you have specific needs please mention them before selecting a size so that we can help you make the best choice.
It is very important to us that you get a scope that you can handle properly and transport safely
Selecting Your Optics
Below is a list of recommended opticians.
These opticians are approved by StarStructure Telescopes based on my own personal visual experience.
We highly recommend that you pick from the list below however, you are welcome to use any optician you wish or supply your own optics.
Your completed telescope is tested for mechanical performance to ensure that the scope is working properly.
Primary and secondary performance can only be evaluated visually based on the sky conditions
at the time tested and should not be considered a valid test of your optics.
If you wish to have the optics tested, this can be done by the selected optician or by an independent tester of your choice.
At your request and expense we will send out the primary mirror cell for your telescope to have the primary optic tested in the mirror cell.
